“But because of his great love for us,

God, who is rich in mercy,

made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—

It is by grace you have been saved.”

– Ephesians 2:4-5

The power of the Gospel brings light to even the darkest of places! Many of our current pastors and field workers serving at local churches experienced the transforming love of Christ within the walls of the prison. Today, many of them are radical followers of Christ serving the Lord in their local communities. It is beautiful to see how God’s saving grace changes lives, heals hearts, and restores identities in Christ.

Jose Luis Estrada

Pastor Jose
Running away from home when he was 12 years old, Jose began to work in nightclubs as a bartender and waiter at an early age. Living on the streets and battling addictions to drugs, he found himself thrown into jail multiple times before he finally committed his life to Christ. While he was in jail, God started to speak to Him through the church services and pastors that visited him weekly. After being released from jail, he started to attend and serve at Ven a Cristo church in Tijuana where the Lord started to heal his heart and restore his identity in Christ.

Today Pastor Jose has been serving with 4 Christ Mission for over ten years starting with the Ven a Cristo church in Tijuana, to being a Pastor at a Ven a Cristo church in San Telmo, which is a rural farming community five hours south of the U.S. border. He is a passionate disciple of Christ and has heart to free families from the bondages of poverty and addictions to the world. He has a beautiful wife, who is the Director of our daycare center, Jardín de Esperanza, and three children.[/two_third_last]

Sergio Suarez Faustino

Pastor Sergio
Sergio grew up in Mexicali, Baja California where he got deeply involved in gangs and drugs. As he grew older and his involvement with gangs became more serious, he battled serious addictions to heroin and other hard drugs. Eventually, Sergio was put in jail for getting caught dismantling and stealing cars. It was in prison however, that God started to miraculously encounter Sergio despite his circumstances. By attending weekly services and sharing with pastors within the walls of the prison, Sergio found himself slowly desiring to learn more about Christ. After he was released from jail, he started to serve at Ven a Cristo church in Tijuana, Mexico where he started to learn about the cost of discipleship and love of Christ.

Today Pastor Sergio has been serving with 4 Christ Mission for over five years and serves as the Lead Pastor at Ven a Cristo church in Tijuana, Mexico. He is married to a powerful woman of Christ, Elvira, who serves alongside him to do women’s ministry and youth ministry. Both Elvira and Sergio are lovers of Christ and relentlessly share the Gospel no matter where they go. We are excited to see where God takes them in the next few years![/two_third_last]
